Even if you don’t live near a Whole Foods location, you can benefit from their website recipes. This year, they put together a whole list of gluten-free recipes for Thanksgiving. They include many listings in the following categories:

Appetizers

Main Courses

Side Dishes

Desserts & Treats

Beverages

You can also do a custom search for recipes here if you need to avoid more than just gluten. Presently, there are over 600 recipes that are gluten and dairy free on the website. Unfortunately, there is still no box for soy-free in the advanced recipe search tool, but that will probably change eventually. All in all, this is a pretty good tool for gluten-free recipes. Happy Thanksgiving to all our readers and make sure to check out all our holiday tips over on Celiac-Disease.com.

If you have been using the French Onion Soup mix from Lipton or Devil’s Food Cake from Betty Crocker Gluten-free, you might want to read this post about ingredient changes in those items.

Udi’s gluten-free bread and bagels are now available at Publix stores in the Southeast. Even though the items are stocked in the freezer, you can defrost them and leave them on the counter for up to a week.

Several years ago, it was not that easy to find gluten-free soups. In fact, most mainstream companies that make soup used wheat flour as a thickener. Today, more and more companies are removing gluten from soups. There are now several new gluten-free soup lines available as well.

With cooler weather headed our way, soup will soon be part of our meal plan on a regular basis. It was 66 degrees here this morning and the high will be almost 90. However, in a few short weeks it will definitely be time to get our soup on!

Over at Celiac-Disease.com, we’ve profiled several gluten-free soup options. It’s so nice to be able to choose from so many terrific soups these days!

Progresso offers many gluten-free options and continues to expand their offerings.

Bear Creek has some gluten-free options, but they are not labeled as such.

Gluten-free Cafe launches gluten-free soup line.

Health Valley changed their tune about soups they previously stated were gluten-free.

Imagine makes over 30 gluten-free soups and introduced two gluten-free ready-made gravies last fall.

The companies listed below make some gluten-free soups. All but one of them also makes gluten soups so you’ll want to look for “gluten-free” on the label. Kettle Cuisine soups are frozen and all 10 options in the line are gluten-free. Several of them are dairy free as well.

*Please note this list is not comprehensive.

Amy’s Kitchen

Fantastic World Foods

Frontier Soups

Kettle Cuisine

Pacific Natural Foods

Several gluten-free soups are available from Amazon.com. As long as you know which soups you like, you can save money and get free shipping (orders of $25 or more) by ordering some items online.

While most of the United States has Whole Foods Market and/or Trader Joes in their area, for much of the Midwest, this just isn’t the case. Fortunately, much of the Midwest has access to a major grocery chain which is very friendly with the Celiac community. That grocery chain is of course Hy-Vee Foods.

Over the past decade, Hy-Vee has been proactive in their quest to meet their customer’s needs by adding a health food section to their stores, which naturally includes several essential gluten-free packaged items those of us who follow a strict gluten-free diet. This is especially convenient for people who live in small towns that don’t have specialty health food stores.

In addition to the new health foods section, Hy-Vee has also gone through all of the product on their shelves and built a huge list of products which were confirmed to be naturally gluten-free. This list is updated regularly and is available for anyone to download on their website here (scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the PDF link). I didn’t link directly to the list as it changes a few times each year, so I figured it would be better to link directly to the actual source, which can be bookmarked!

If that wasn’t convenient enough, most Hy-Vee stores also staff dietitians which are available to consult with Hy-Vee shoppers. In addition to performing their normal roles, these dietitians will often accept feedback on existing gluten-free products, and in my experience they will also bring in requested products to their stores.

No matter where you live within the United States, there is a good chance that you will find a Whole Foods Market in your local area. This of course is a good thing, as Whole Foods Market has always been very good to the Celiac community. They are educated on the gluten free diet, and most locations have a pretty impressive selection of gluten free products.

While digging for a gluten free products list for Whole Foods Market, I noticed a new section of their website devoted completely to the gluten free groceries that they offer, which can be viewed here. If you view the menu on the right where it says Gluten Free Living, you’ll find some sublinks to more specific gluten free information.

For your reference, here is the list of gluten free products that Whole Foods Market currently carries:(...)
Read the rest of Whole Foods Market’s Gluten Free Products List (168 words)

San Francisco is a major city in the United States and a popular tourist destination, so it makes sense that there would be quite a few people seeking out gluten free groceries in this area.

Amy Fothergill, the San Francisco Gluten Free Examiner, recently published a great roundup of locations that offer gluten free products in the San Francisco area, which can be read here. Of course Whole Foods Market and Trader Joe’s makes the list, but there are a large number of smaller grocery stores included as well!

We have updated our Gluten Free Groceries in California post with this updated information. Great work Amy!
